Status:      Regular Full-time; Exempt FLSA status.   

Salary:    The starting salary range for the position will be $50,000 - $60,000 annually, DOE, with a highly competitive benefits package.Location:   Puget Sound Regional Council, downtown Seattle, Washington.

The Puget Sound Regional Council develops policies and coordinates decisions about regional growth,   transportation and economic development planning in King, Pierce, Snohomish and Kitsap counties. The Council is composed of over 80 county, city, port, transit, tribal and state agencies.

 

The Prosperity Partnership is the coalition of more than 300 businesses, government, nonprofit, labor and education organizations helping to develop and implement the Puget Sound Regional Council’s long-range economic development strategy.  The PSRC’s economic development department staffs the Prosperity Partnership.

The position

PSRC is seeking an Associate Economic Policy Analyst to perform a variety of economic development, policy and programmatic activities in support of the Prosperity Partnership and the implementation of the Regional Economic Strategy.  This position will be responsible for policy research, development and analysis, as well as program development and intergovernmental and community relations activities.  In particular, this position will support the work of the Economic Development Department to improve the region’s job creation in the area of Life Sciences, Tourism, Aerospace, Clean Technology, Arts & Culture, and Small and Minority-Owned Business Development. This position may work on some grant writing and event planning as well as contributing to the Prosperity Partnership e-newsletter, website and blog, and other duties as assigned.

Our ideal candidate

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in public policy analysis and developing policy recommendations.
  • Experience managing relationships with partners in federal, state and local government, and in the business, labor and nonprofit communities.
  • Strong verbal communication skills, including ability to make presentations, provide assistance and respond to detailed requests for information from local agencies, consultants and the public.
  • Strong writing skills, including the ability to write clearly and concisely and convey technical information in a compelling manner to people without a technical background.
  • Knowledge of economic development research methods and techniques.
  • Ability to collect, organize and analyze economic and other data for policy application.
  • Knowledge of federal, state and local policy related to regional economic development issues.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Business, Public Administration, Political Science, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Three years increasingly responsible experience in economic development, public policy, or related field.
  • Or, any combination of education and experience that would provide the applicant with the desired skills, knowledge, and ability required to perform the job.
