Location:  Flexible – Headquarters in Olympia, but telecommuting optional

About TVW

Founded in 1993, TVW is one of the oldest and most respected public affairs networks in the country.  Based on the CSPAN model, TVW provides round-the-clock gavel-to-gavel coverage of state government proceedings, public affairs programs and other events of civic importance. 

A 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization, TVW’s core mission is “to provide unfiltered, unbiased, gavel-to-gavel coverage of Washington state government, along with complementary programming, to promote a healthy and robust public discourse, increase civic access and engagement, and foster an informed citizenry.”

 

Position Description

TVW’s Director of Development is responsible for planning, leading and managing all private fundraising efforts for the organization, including developing programs to increase financial support from individuals, corporations, charitable foundations and other sources.

The Director of Development will specifically create and manage a new TVW capital fundraising campaign designed to generate annual, sustainable financial support for technology replacement.

The position reports to the TVW President and is a member of the organization’s executive management team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all of TVW’s private fundraising programs and activities
  • Create and implement annual strategic development plan
  • Manage new “TVW Technology Partnership” campaign to identify and solicit major donors for annual and capital gifts
  • Cultivate and nurture relationships with current and potential major, corporate, foundation and individual donors
  • Identify and write grant proposals to potential corporate, foundation and government funders
  • Offer creative and active leadership for the organization at large
  • Manage communication with all donors
  • Serve as fundraising liaison with TVW's board of directors

Qualifications

  • B.A. with at least 5 years of nonprofit fundraising/development experience, preferably with significant foundation and high donor fundraising experience
  • Demonstrated excellence in organizational, research and written communication
  • Interest, enthusiasm and affinity for TVW’s mission, fundraising and working with people
  • Ability to listen and communicate verbally
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
  • Strong project management skills
  • Computer and software expertise
