Youth Suicide Prevention Program (YSPP)
The Youth Suicide Prevention Program (YSPP) is looking for energetic board members who believe that talking about suicide can save a life. YSPP is a private, not-for-profit corporation based in Seattle, but serving the entire state of Washington. Our mission is to reduce the incidence of youth suicide through building public awareness, offering training and education, and supporting local communities to take action. Our staff – based in communities across the state – conduct presentations in schools and community organizations that teach the warning signs for depression and suicide and the strategies for getting help. We also develop collaborative partnerships with community providers to raise awareness about this stigmatized issue and to enhance professionals’ skills and resources to appropriate respond to at-risk youth. The YSPP Board meets in Seattle every other month – typically the 4th Thursday in the month – from 5-7PM. Board members would be expected to attend meetings, engage in fundraising, make a personal financial contribution, participate in a board committee and help to promote and realize the mission of the organization. For more information about the organization go to www.yspp.org. For an application or more information, contact Sue Eastgard, Executive Director at 206 297-5922 x 1.
