Watching the Seahawks go to the Super Bowl was very exciting. Those of you who were downtown during last week's celebration know exactly what I'm talking about. For those few friends who were bemoaning the traffic jams and the kids that were allowed to miss school, all I can say is they should stop being so cranky - it was only one day of celebrating, and who knows whether we'll win again next year?

Admittedly, I am not a huge football fan. I'm one of those "fair-weather fans" who came late to the party. Nevertheless, I thought it was wonderful to see the whole town decked out in Seahawk colors, going crazy and just having a grand time. I loved that the rest of the country got to discover our great team and our amazing 12th Man fan base. What fun!

I've been thinking a lot about the 12th Man. As I watched some of the players say a few words after the game and during last week's celebration, it was clear that they don't take their fans for granted. I don't think there was one player who didn't thank the fans, acknowledging the 12th Man in some way or another. I started to wonder - could the 12th Man be the true Servant Leaders of the Seahawks?

If you study Servant Leadership and decode its messages, it's really all about helping people grow. The Servant Leaders in my life are people who have encouraged me to become more than I ever thought possible. They have led from behind, been my cheerleaders and lifted me up with their support and encouragement. So too, did the 12th Man lift up the Seahawks and help them reach the goal line.

Now that our community of Servant Leaders has come together so strongly to lift up our team, how can we keep the positive energy going? How can all of us continue the momentum to keep our region moving forward? Let's all take a moment to pause, reflect on the excitement of the past few weeks, and determine what we can do, both individually and collectively, to continue to lift our communities to new heights.
