The IF Project (IF) seeks a dynamic, visionary leader to serve as its first Executive Director.
About The IF Project: The IF Project’s mission is to empower those impacted by incarceration by amplifying their story to illuminate, inspire and heal. The IF Project has an impressive array of programming built on and inspired by the stories of people who are or have been incarcerated, based on the question: “If there was something someone could have said or done that would have changed the path that led you here, what would it have been?” The organization was cofounded by Detective Kim Bogucki, a 30-year veteran of the Seattle Police Department; Kathlyn Horan, a Los Angelesbased film director and producer; and Renata Abramson, at the time an inmate at the Washington State Correctional Center for Women. Kathlyn directed and produced a 2018 feature-length documentary based on the work of The IF Project which debuted at the Seattle International Film Festival and screened at several film festivals, inside prisons, and in communities around the world.
While the organization celebrated its ten year anniversary in 2018, IF only became an independent 501(c)(3), not-forprofit organization in 2017 and is in many ways in the start-up phase of its organizational life cycle. The organization has an annual budget of $600,000+ and will shortly grow to a staff of six.
Partnering with the co-founders and the Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for the developing and implementing the vision and strategy of the organization and the consistent achievement of programmatic and financial objectives. The Executive Director serves as a key spokesperson, manages the financial health of the organization, leads and manages a talented staff, and is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with clients, government agencies, funders and community partners, including police and corrections departments locally and across the country.
